Meet Our Team!

Heather Kauffman, 

Program Manager

Meet Heather! Heather has been the program manager at The Lighthouse since its opening in 2016. Heather received her BSW from UNC Charlotte and has worked in child welfare previously. Heather enjoys providing education to the community and is passionate about prevention.

Belinda Butler,

Forensic Interviewer

Meet Belinda! Belinda was born in North Carolina, but lived in many states and countries as a Military Dependent.  She’s a graduate of Gardner-Webb University and has worked with children and families through the public school system and with The Department of Health and Human Services for twenty-one years.  Belinda enjoys her walk with the Lord, serving other’s and reading.

Kathryn Shemesh, LCSW

Trauma Therapist

Meet Kathryn! Kathryn was born and raised in Charlotte, NC…Go Panthers!! She attended Appalachian State University receiving a bachelor degree in Child Development and then went on to get a Master of Social Work degree from University of South Carolina. Kathryn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about working with children and their families. She enjoys traveling, decorating and most of all spending time with her son, family, and friends.

Shiniqua Lee, LCSWA

Victim Advocate

Meet Shiniqua! Shiniqua was born and raised in New Jersey and migrated to the south for the warmer weather! She attended Virginia Union University for her undergraduate studies and Norfolk State University for her Master’s degree. For fun she enjoys binge watching Netflix, spending time with family and friends, and crafting.

Morgan Lail, 

Forensic Interviewer

Meet Morgan! Morgan grew up in North Carolina and enjoys working with children. She specialized in the Child Welfare Collaborative in her undergraduate Social Work program at UNCC. She pursued her Master’s degree at the University of South Carolina, Go Gamecocks! For fun she enjoys spending time with friends, her dog and two cats.

Hannah Hopper,

Community Awareness and Outreach Specialist 

Meet Hannah! Hannah graduated from Southern Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in Human Services. Hannah loves talking to people in our community about important topics such as keeping children safe and human trafficking. Hannah enjoys traveling and coffee! ☕️
